1. Introduction
The Rwanda Health Informatics Alliance (RHIA) Women Chapter is a strategic initiative dedicated to advancing gender equity, leadership, and inclusion within Rwanda’s digital health ecosystem.

It aims to empower women and girls in health informatics, data science, biomedical engineering, and digital innovation ensuring that Rwanda’s journey toward a smart, data-driven health system is inclusive, diverse, and sustainable.

The Chapter aligns with:

  • The National Gender Policy,
  • Smart Rwanda Master Plan,
  • Health Sector Strategic Plan V (HSSP V),
  • SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 3 (Health and Well-being).

Vision:
A Rwanda where women are fully represented, equipped, and leading the digital health and informatics revolution.

Mission:
To cultivate women’s participation, leadership, and innovation in digital health through capacity building, mentorship, networking, and advocacy.

2) Purpose of the Women’s Chapter
Increase the participation, leadership, and visibility of women and girls in digital health & health informatics across Rwanda, fully aligned with national gender priorities in ICT.

Individual Membership Criteria (Women Chapter)

Eligibility: women and girls in/aspiring to digital health, health informatics, data, AI, biomedical/ICT, or related fields (students, interns, professionals, entrepreneurs).

Join RHIA: active RHIA membership (Student/Individual/Professional/Corporate).
Commitments: uphold RHIA code of conduct; contribute to one program per quarter (mentoring, training, outreach, research).

Allies: men can join as mentors/allies (≤30% of chapter membership) to support inclusion

Member Benefits: Mentorship matching, training discounts, speaking opportunities, project placements, visibility in RHIA channels, and access to partner calls.
